Welsh slate was formed 400 million years ago, being photographed at 1/400th of a second the images show no discernible movement. However, everything is in motion, slowly decaying and changing from its original state. This change can be perceived in these images as the detail of the slate reveals minute fractures and signs of erosion which is happening equally to the mountains from which these pieces of slate are hewn.
